3 Mom Hacks for the Home

Updated: Oct 5, 2022

Not all superheroes wear capes. The role of a mum is definitely not easy; having to take care of the children, managing the household chores, meal planning, settling the groceries etc. There’s so much on their plate already. And kids being kids, sometimes they can really turn a neatly cleaned home into a warzone (unintentionally). Here are some tips for all mums out there to help save time and sanity:

Remove small scratches on furniture with toothpaste - We all end up with some scratches in the finishes of our furniture from time to time, not to mention especially when we have kids at home. It may be frustrating to see the scratches every now and then. However, before you start spending hundreds of dollars to get your sofa refinished, try using some toothpaste to get those marks out. Using a just pea-sized amount of non-gel toothpaste, rub the scratch in a circular motion gently until it buffs out, and then clean the remainder with a damp towel. That should do the trick! (This method also works for removing light scratches from phones, headlights, glass surfaces, cars and metal surfaces)

Wrap a rubber band around the neck of a soap dispenser to avoid overuse - If you have little ones that cannot control their strength fully yet, usually the result is a handful of soap and half of it goes to waste. What will help is to wrap a rubber band around the neck of a soap dispenser to help slow its flow. That way, not only will you get an appropriate amount of soap with every pump, it also reduces wastage and saves you some money too!

Use a hairdryer to get crayon marks off the walls - If your kids like to use your white walls as their personal crayon canvas, all hope is not lost. Simply heat the portion of the wall with a hairdryer for a few seconds to soften the crayon's wax and then wipe any marks away with a cloth.
